“Hakkunde” is an intriguing story of a young graduate who battles everything including love, family, discrimination, drug abuse, tradition and insecurity. It follows his journey to self-discovery and actualization. The story is characterized by actions and reactions that defines the everyday Nigerian society, with its ups and downs and with a particular focus on the life of a job hunting graduate “Akande” who found himself in totality while searching for a job, and a better life.
Asurf Oluseyi is self-taught award-winning filmmaker from Lagos, Nigeria. He was featured on Google African Connected Campaign which run across Africa in 2013 as an inspiration to young Africans taking advantage of internet in learning their skills and building careers for themselves. He has trained over many individuals on the "Art of Filmaking and Editing" and has successfully build one of the biggest independent production company in Nigeria, "Asurf Films". He has produced and directed hundreds of video contents both in UK, USA and Nigeria, with credits for contents on local and cable TV channels with Awards to his work. He has produced and directed 2 short films Hell or High Water (Won Best Short Film at IFAB, International Film Awards, Berlin 2016 and got 7 International Selections) and A Day with Death, which got 10 International Selections, and Won Best Short Film at AMVCA 2016. He was also a nominee at the 2016 The Future Awards Africa for Best Screen Producer. His first solo feature film "HAKKUNDE" has won several awards from US TAFA, IndieFEST, European Cinematography Awards, 5 Continents Intl. Film Festival, AMAA, AFRIFF, and screened across over 17 film festivals worldwide and currently in competition at FESPACO 2019.
